High End
Artis Centrum Hotel: (H-1) Liejyklos 11/23,
tel. 266-0366, fax 266-0377; [email protected].
A splendid location for what by all accounts is an equally fine hotel,
positioned to perfection midway between Old Town and Gedimino, and boasting all
the luxuries that come as standard in 21st-century Lithuania in a choice of
rooms decorated with an artistic touch but not forgetting people have to live in
them. Testament to the place's standing is the fact that the locals use both the
restaurant and bar. Doubles 160 €.www.centrumhotels.com

some of the best looking in Vilnius, luxurious and palatial, with fine
furniture. Downstairs, a cavern has been transformed into a disco, the noise
from which can sometimes penetrate first-floor rooms. Doubles 125 €.

In Old Town, across from Cathedral Square. The owners are German, the same ones
who own the fine Mabre Residence. Very good location and friendly
staff. Not quite as richly decorated as its sister hotel, but you can't
go wrong coming here. There's a good Italian restaurant called Rossini located
on the premises. Doubles 150 €. www.citypark.lt

A great hotel in what is set to become a great part of town, Conti has taken the
cream and red approach to room design and applied it to everything, from the
small budget spaces in the roof to the breathtaking luxury suites. Popular with
visiting business professionals and stag weekenders alike, the proof of the
pudding is in the service, which at Conti is a heck of a lot better than many
hotels of this type in the city. Doubles 125 €.
Crowne Plaza Vilnius: (C-3) M.K. Ciurlionio 84, tel. 274-3400,
fax 274-3411; [email protected]. One
of the country's few 5-star hotels, this large gray elephant of an 80s-built Intouristbeast has had an almost complete capitalist makeover and is now run by the prime
minister's wife no less. The rooms and other facilities are all what
you'd expect for a hotel like this, but grumbles have been liberally
mixed in with the plaudits about the service. Moaning aside, the advantages are
there if you look hard enough, including the hotel's early entry into the Wifi
revolution and the view from the rooftop bar. Doubles 66-139 €.
Dvaras (Manor): (F-2) Tilto 3, tel. 210-7370, fax

A luxurious, 39-room hotel with standard singles and doubles, plus the so-called
Round Suite, a circular room on the roof filled with windows. It overlooks a
Russian church and has a stunning panoramic view of Old Town. It's got to be one
of the most romantic spots in Vilnius, suited for newlyweds or lovers of any
stripe. Fireplaces and a spiral staircase add to the ambience of the Europa
Imperial. Doubles 150 €. www.hoteleuropa.lt

superb location. Singles 100 €.
Le Meridien Villon Vilnius: Highway A2, Vilnius-Riga, tel.
273-9700, fax 273-9730. This roadside resort hotel is so quiet and peaceful it
almost has the feel of a religious retreat. Set some 20 minutes out of the city,
the Villon has no space constraints and stretches out amid rolling
hills, pine and birch trees. It looks oddly out of place in no-man's land next
to one of the main trans-Baltic highways, but if you have a car or don't mind
taking shuttles, the Villon is highly recommended. This foreign-owned hotel has
all the creature comforts, including an outstanding restaurant, a nightclub, and
a terrific health club. They recently opened the biggest convention center in
the Baltics. Doubles 120 €.
Mabre Residence Hotel: (I-4) Maironio 13, tel. 212-2087, fax
212-2240; [email protected]. On the east
edge of Old Town, not far from St. Anne's Church. A German-run hotel that was

Narutis: (H-3) Pilies 24, tel. 212-2894, fax 262-2882; [email protected].
A green, glass-sided hydraulic lift whisks you up five floors from the cellar
restaurant through the glass-topped courtyard to the comfortable, modern rooms
with cheerful use of color, bright green banisters, blue tables and reddish wood
furnishings. The thin, motelesque aqua-blue carpets are a bit off, but with big
beds and restored frescoes in some rooms, you can't quibble. Lithuania's
declaration of independence was made here in 1918. Doubles 195 €.
Novotel Vilnius: (C-4) Gedimino 16, tel. 262-9999, fax
266-6201; [email protected].
Hats off to Novotel who's built a wonderful hotel in one of the best
locations in town, filled it with friendly, efficient and knowledgeable staff
and kept their prices more than affordable. The rooms are all superb, the suite
on the top floor overlooking the Cathedral is more than superb, and both the bar
and restaurant offer great views of the masses to-ing and fro-ing in the busy
square opposite. Underground parking, secure elevators and a whole host of other
luxuries make this one a highly recommended choice for tourists and business
travelers alike. Singles 120 €.
Radisson SAS Astorija Hotel Vilnius: (J-3) Didzioji 35/2, tel.
212-0110, fax 212-1762; [email protected].

Town. With this hotel, you just can't miss. They are also improving all the
time, now with 120 rooms on offer. This hotel also has a good bar and widely
celebrated restaurant, Brasserie Astorija. Doubles 170 €.
Ramada Vilnius: (D-5) Subaciaus 2, tel. 255-3355; [email protected].
A fine location and by all accounts a delightful place to flop. In Vilnius'
ever-increasing Star Wars campaign, the new Ramada has upped the ante with the
addition of DVDs throughout, and bunging a fine Italian restaurant at ground
level. Very tasty indeed. www.ramadavilnius.lt
Ratonda: (B-3) Gedimino 52/1, tel. 212-0670, fax 212-0669; [email protected].
This hotel, tucked into a side street, has miraculously risen to become a
centrally-located gem. Some of the rooms can be smallish and the corridors
narrow, but the cheap singles in the roof area are good value at 85 €. The
owners have ensured polite staff, artsy paintings on every floor, and a lovely
restaurant below. The location is close to the parliament.
Relais & Chateaux Stikliai: (I-2) Gaono 7, tel. 264-9595,

272-6210; [email protected].
One of the dominant landmarks of Vilnius, and one of the region's most modern
hotels. It's on the bank of the Neris River, far enough away from the
city-center hustle bustle, but close enough to walk to it in just minutes if
need be. Likewise, it's a short walk across a pedestrian bridge to Old Town.
They even have a pianist in the lobby on weekday evenings, an illustration of
the newly instilled class of this place. Doubles 130 €. www.revalhotels.com

range of facilities. Rooms are minimalist and modern. Doubles 90 €.
Shakespeare: (H-4) Bernardinu 8/8, tel. 266-5885, fax 266-5886; [email protected]. This hotel
in the heart of Old Town exudes old English charm. The hotel bar with its deep
