Estonia to create Baltic Gastronomy Tour

The potato tour?

The Estonian Ministry of Agriculture wants to create a “food route” around the Baltic Sea that would lead tourists to special places connected to gastronomy. Like tours exist elsewhere in Europe for Czech beer, French wine, and German cheese.

The ministry’s Deputy Chancellor Ruve Shank said that the goal is to create a route covering all countries by the Baltic Sea. And if other countries don’t join in, she says, Estonia will do it anyway.

The ministry has not yet chosen the exact route, since it would require agreements with companies on the route. City Paper is accepting reader suggestions for what gastronomic delights the Baltic might offer tourists. Vodka, canned fish, potatoes, and prostitutes have been early reader suggestions.
