LithuaniaÂ’s dolphin dead
Did you know they had one?
Nika, a dolphin from the Black Sea, died unexpectedly at the Lithuanian Sea Museum on February 14th. The Lithuanian Veterinary Academy suspects Nika may have died from a sinus inflammation, though the actual cause will known when microbiological and histological analyses are completed.
Nika was brought to the museum six years ago and was very rarely ill. Dolphins usually live 30-40 years, and so the death of twenty-year-old Nika was unexpected. Eight dolphins currently live at the museum, two of them born last year.
